Offered by Plethora Media Group, the program has students take photographs representing their values and goals to be used in a culminating presentation.

The Plethora Media Group has been providing programs to Teaneck students for the past several years. The co-founder of the program, Keenon Perry, is an Associate Producer for HBO sports and a graduate of Teaneck High School.

“It teaches students abut photography,” said Nick Campestre, Coordinator of FORUM, an after school program in Teaneck. “They give the students an activity, something that could reflect their own values or what they think of success. Then the students have to take pictures and put together a project explaining why they see that topic through camera angles, lighting and more.”

The Teaneck Board of Education will vote on approving the payment, not to exceed $600, for the multi-session “Picture of Success” program today.

“We received great feedback in the past from those involved in the program,” Campestre said. “They enjoy learning to take photos, enjoy being creative, presenting to their peers in the group and parents enjoy seeing their students enjoy it so much. We also have seen times when the lessons the students learned are incorporated in their daily lives.”

The two sessions in the program will be held on Nov. 23 and Dec. 9. The first session will teach the basic photography skills. A disposable camera would be provided to students that participate.

The second session will have students preview and select photos for inclusion in their final presentation and create captions / blurbs for the selected photos. Students would finalize the project and present it to staff and peers.
