Come meet the borough's finest from 9 a.m. to noon at the Starbucks on northbound Route 17.

The highly successful program is designed for discussing community issues, building relationships – and drinking free coffee.

"No cell phones, devices, or distractions -- just coffee, cops and conversation," said Detective Sgt. Jim DePreta.

The majority of contacts the public has with law enforcement comes during emergencies or emotional situations -- not always the best times for relationship-building, the sergeant said.

"Coffee With A Cop" is a national initiative supported by the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.

It removes any barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one conversation -- "one cup at a time,” DePreta said.
