ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. -- A tailgating Philadelphia driver headed to Bear Mountain for the weekend had pot hidden in a gum box and resealable food package when a Rochelle Park police officer pulled him over Friday afternoon on Route 17, authorities told Daily Voice.
Officer Jared Shatkin was talking with Sean P. Rhein, 26, and other occupants when he smelled raw marijuana inside the car after stopping it just before 1:45 p.m., Lt. Dean Pinto said.
A search turned up the secret stash, along with a pipe and rolling papers, he said.
Rhein was processed and released pending a Municipal Court hearing on drug possession charges next week.
