Each of Saudino's officers personally contributed $100 to the effort and got the public to join in.
Saudino told Daily Voice that he was proud not only of the dedication they showed in raising the money but in how they all kept themselves neatly trimmed.
"It took a little convincing, but Sheriff [Michael] Saudino eventually went for it," Marcelo Hagopian, president of BCSO Local 134, told Daily Voice when the office's first-ever no-shave campaign began a little over a month ago.
"Pardon Our Appearance" signs were posted at the courthouse, where sheriff's officers handle security.
“Every day when I addressed jurors, I explained to them that we were doing ‘No Shave November,’" Saudino said, "and I hoped they would understand we were doing this for a good cause -- because we were."
