“Right now there are a lot of cars infiltrating the residential neighborhood for parking for the hospital and bus,” Teaneck Deputy Mayor Elie Katz said. “If we take those cars away from the area and put them in a parking facility it will help alleviate the street parking.”
Representatives of Holy Name Medical Center, New Jersey Transit and the Teaneck have met to discuss the deck, which potentially serve hospital employees, patients and visitors while providing municipal parking for the public and employees and NJ Transit bus commuters.
“We are curious to see if there are any benefits to a multi-level parking option for our bus commuters,” said Lisa Torbic, senior public information officer for NJ Transit. “It’s only in the concept stage at this point in time.”
The mayor and council on Oct. 27 approved a resolution to proceed with the feasibility assessment, saying it "would be in the best interests of the citizens of Teaneck."
