The stretch was closed as a precaution after a resident up the street reported a home sewer backup, said Brian Intindola, Rutherford's borough engineer.
"We will assess the situation and by 3 p.m. today we should know what the problem is," Intindola told Daily Voice.
Repairs will take between a day and a half to two days to complete, he said.
