HACKENSACK, N.J. — Ashley Jefferson of Hackensack is 25 years old and is a quadriplegic. She is battling chronic epilepsy disorder and cerebral palsy.
She has endured multiple hospitalizations, surgeries and, despite the challenges she faces, is still smiling.
Jefferson's mom, Tremaine Watkins, is hoping that she can soon provide her daughter with a handicapped-accessible van.
More than $1,000 had been raised as of Thursday afternoon on a GoFundMe for Jefferson. Nearly $35,000 is needed.
"Although her quality of life has been taken away, I am trying to improve her day to day daily activities." Watkins said.
