From retail giants to pharmaceutical leaders, the layoffs span multiple sectors and impact communities across the state.

Here’s what’s coming:

Walmart – Hoboken

  • Effective date: June 13, 2025
  • Employees impacted: 481
  • The notice was posted in February.

Bristol Myers Squibb – Lawrence Township

  • Effective dates: May 22, June 6, June 20, and Aug. 1, 2025
  • Employees impacted: 223
  • Layoffs at the pharmaceutical giant will be staggered over several months.

Novartis – East Hanover

  • Effective dates: June 13 to Oct. 24, 2025
  • Employees impacted: 427
  • Hundreds are expected to lose their jobs in waves through the fall at the East Hanover facility.

JoAnn Stores – Support Center Employees

  • Company HQ: Hudson, OH
  • Employees affected in NJ counties: Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, and Ocean
  • Effective dates: May 29 to June 12, 2025
  • Employees impacted: 262

JPMorgan Chase – Jersey City

  • Effective date: June 23, 2025
  • Employees impacted: 145
  • One of the nation's largest banks is cutting more than 100 jobs in its Jersey City office.

The layoffs were listed on New Jersey’s official WARN notice website, which tracks large-scale employment changes that affect 50 or more workers.

Employers are required to provide advance notice to give workers time to prepare for job loss and transition support.
