HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Hackensack University Medical Center has been recognized as “one of the most connected hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report.
The list recognizes hospitals who are leaders in computerized records. Billions have been poured into the 7-year-old federal initiative to make electronic medical records the universal standard, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Most hospitals, the magazine found, are reluctant, at best, at sharing information. Easily shared information improves care and outcomes, while time lags in getting data can have a serious negative consequence, the story said.
To come up with the list, the magazine analyzed variables where electronic connectedness made a difference to patients and assigned an overall score to each hospital assessed.
