Lodi Police Chief Donald Scorzetti said the teen was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 2, after officers executed a search warrant at his Hasbrouck Heights home.
The stabbing happened on Saturday, March 29, around 4:50 p.m., when police were called to Memorial Park near the track entrance for a fight involving a knife. Responding officers found the 18-year-old male victim from Hasbrouck Heights with a visible stab wound. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he remained in critical but stable condition, according to the department.
Detective Lt. Christopher Irizarry led the investigation, which revealed the younger teen had stabbed the victim, “seriously wounding” him, the release says.
The teen was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and weapon offenses, among other charges related to juvenile delinquency. He is being held at the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center pending court proceedings.
The Hasbrouck Heights Police Department assisted with the case.
