Authorities: Pompton Lakes HS Teacher From PA Found Dead At School Of Suicide
A teacher from Pennsylvania who was found dead at Pompton Lakes High School had apparently killed himself, authorities said Saturday.
Although an autopsy was to determine the official cause, the death of Patrick Moccia, 47, of Doylestown, PA, was “believed to be the result of an apparent suicide,” Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Pompton Lakes Police Chief Derek Clark said in a joint announcement.
Police found the body of Moccia, who taught at the school, shortly after 9 p.m. Friday following a search on a welfare check, they said.

Penn State University is mourning the death of a 21-year-old student who died of COVID-19 complications.
Juan Garcia, of Allentown, PA, died Tuesday of respiratory failure and coronavirus complications, university officials said.
Garcia is the first known COVID-19 fatality among Penn State students, officials said.
More than $21,000 had been raised as of Saturday on a GoFundMe for Garcia's funeral expenses.

A Missing Person Alert has been issued after a 45-year-old man signed a 16-year-old girl out of school in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with the two believed to be traveling out of state, possibly in the tristate area.
The man, Kevin Esterly, and the teen, Amy Yu, could possibly be traveling together in a two-door 1999 Red Honda Accord bearing PA vehicle registration of KLT 0529, police said.
