When the teen told Harper that she didn’t have any money, he assaulted her to the point of unconsciousness before tying her up with bedsheets, shoving her into a closet and fleeing with various electronics and jewelry, police said.

The victim later untied herself, escaped through a bathroom window and sought help from a neighbor, police said. She was hospitalized for facial injuries and has since been released.

Harper was arrested Monday at Newark Penn Station by members of the New Jersey Transit Police Department and charged with criminal attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, terroristic threats and other offenses.

He remains in custody pending transport to Essex County Correctional Facility.
