GARFIELD, N.J. — For 17 slow and painful minutes, Franek Kapołka’s heart stopped beating.
Doctors won the race against to revive the 62-year-old Garfield man but the lack of oxygen to Kapolka’s brain has left him with massive brain damage and unresponsive.
In Kapolka’s family’s quest to find new thearpies and procedures to improve his condition, they’ll need a mobility van to take him to and from doctors’ offices.
More than $2,100 had been raised as of Monday morning on a GoFundMe site launched by Kapolka’s wife, Roza Kapolka, in an effort to purchase him the van.
“We don’t give up,” said Franek’s wife, Roza Kapolka, on a GoFundMe. “As soon we as have that car… we could have more access [to] doctors and therapies.”
