Denville Man With Bloody Hands Spat On Police Officer: Authorities A 27-year-old Denville man was arrested and charged after he spat on a police officer on Thursday, Sept. 5, authorities said. Officers responded to a welfare check and observed Carlos Vergne stumbling down the road from the residence with no shoes on, Denville police said. Woman Assaulted, Spat On NJ Transit Bus By Man: Newark Police A man spat on a woman and assaulted her on an NJ Transit Bus in Newark on Tuesday, Aug. 27, authorities said. At 1 p.m., the woman and the man engaged in a verbal altercation while on the bus at Broad Street and Branford Place, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. 11 People Evacuated In East Orange Three-Alarm Fire A three-alarm fire in East Orange caused 11 people to be evacuated on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 7, authorities said. Firefighters responded to 291 Glenwood Ave. at 4:30 p.m. and the fire escalated to three alarms, necessitating additional firefighters to the scene, a spokesperson for the City of East Orange said.
