Pee-Wees: Fullback Nicholas Grasso’s eight-yard run late in the first half gave Heights a 7-0 lead, and the defense held tough on the way to a 20-0 win versus the Blue Devils. Following runs by Daniel Amendola and Robert Daddario that put the Aviators inside the 10, Grasso punched it up the middle for the touchdown.

Following a defensive stop to start the fourth quarter, when Grasso and Michael Napolitano stonewalled a Wood-Ridge running back on a 4th and 10, Heights took over on the Wood-Ridge 25.

Three plays later, Daddario’s touchdown pushed the lead to 13-0. Ethan Perez scored on a quarterback keeper for the point after conversion and a 14-0 lead.

Jalil Baldwin’s interception return for a 53-yard touchdown ended any chance of a Wood-Ridge comeback. Heights is 1-4 on the season, while Wood-Ridge is 2-3.

Juniors: Shane Ike and Anthony Dilascio each had two touchdown runs as Heights defeated Wood-Ridge, 25-0.

Ike busted a run through the center of the offensive line and outraced the Blue Devils defense for the touchdown on the game’s opening drive. The Aviator defense asserted themselves on the Blue Devils first drive as tackles by Michael Canavatchel, AJ Parente and Sal Grasso forced Wood-Ridge to punt.

On the next drive, Heights drove deep into Wood-Ridge territory before the Blue Devils, behind tackles from Christian Hutchinson and Dominic Genario, sent Heights’ offense reeling, with Wood-Ridge taking over on downs at the Heights 49. After a three and out, Wood-Ridge choose to punt, pinning the Aviators back at their own 12.

Dilascio changed the momentum of the game, breaking a 62-yarder five plays into the drive, giving the Aviators a 12-0 lead midway through the second quarter. The Aviator defense came up strong again, getting Heights the ball for one last drive in the first half. Dilascio’s second touchdown, a 43-yard run, gave Heights an 18-0 halftime lead.

Ike’s second run, behind a block from Roman Eschert, went for 43 yards and the game’s final score midway through the third period.

Heights improved to 5-0 with the win, while Wood-Ridge is now 2-3.

Seniors: Rocco Minichiello went 55 yards on the opening kickoff for a touchdown and Heights never slowed down on the way to a 32-0 victory.

Wood-Ridge tried to bounce back on its opening drive behind the running of Blue Devil quarterback Anthony Iacovino and running back Isaiah Walker. But linebacker Justin Mucci stopped Iacovino on a 4th and 10, giving Heights the ball at its 33. Mucci went 67 yards on the next play for a 13-0 lead.

Following a Wood-Ridge punt, Heights took advantage of two Wood-Ridge personal fouls to get into scoring position. Minichiello went 30 yards off the left side and a Steven Faussette-to-Daniel Viola pass for the conversion gave the Aviators a 20-0 lead.

Faussette hit Mucci for a 72-yard pass-and-run play to give Heights its 26-0 lead at the half.

Heights defense continued its stinginess in the second half, as defensive tackle Chris Lohrmann had several big hits on runs up the middle.

Faussette hit Minchiello with a 50-yard touchdown pass midway through the third quarter for the game’s final score.

The Aviators improved to 5-0 with the win and next face league newcomer Manchester in a game for first place in the Northern Division. Wood-Ridge fell to 2-3.
