160 Leonia High School students and their dates walked the red carpet while family, friends and neighbors took pictures. Parents volunteered to decorate the gymnasium with various backdrops for students to be photographed in front of.
The event culminated with a "pre-prom parade" through the high school peace garden before the prom-goers boarded buses to take them to the Sheraton Crossroads in Mahwah.
In the past, pre-prom events had been held at various homes in the area. Leonia High School Principal Dr. Edward Bertolini decided to host the event at the high school to allow both Leonia and Edgewater students to have pre-prom together.
The Leonia High School Home & School Association raised the money to host pre-prom event at the "Mr. Senior Pageant" earlier this year.
