FORT LEE, N.J. -- The Fort Lee High School Orchestras will perform a Nov. 18 benefit concert at the borough public library to raise money to attend competitions.
"They don't have money for transportation this year in their budget," said Olga Kuharets, the program coordinator for adult events at Fort Lee Public Library. "This is what their benefit is for."
The group has performed at the senior center and other locations to raise funds for competition events.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. and will include works by Mozart, Chopin, Ungar and Ravel.
Attendees are asked to donate $5 for the event.
Refreshments will be available for an additional fee.
"If someone wants to throw $100 bills in the basket, no one will object," Kuharets said. "They are not going to be able to compete unless they have the funds."
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
