Tamagny activated his overnight lights and the motorcycle appeared to stop when it suddenly roared off, crossing into oncoming traffic and turning left onto Station Parkway, the chief said.
The sergeant called in and the chase was on.
The cycle crossed into eastbound traffic, then hopped onto the sidewalk and back onto Station Parkway before hooking right onto Grand Avenue, blowing the stop sign, the chief said.
It kicked up to 50 mph heading south on Grand toward Route 46, crossing into oncoming traffic and back, before turning left on Ames Avenue, roaring up the street, then blowing another stop sign as it turned right onto Broad Avenue, Ziegler said.
The cyclist went only a block before taking another right, this time onto Moore Avenue, flying down the street, cutting across the sidewalk and zipping into a driveway of the apartment complex at the corner of Grand Avenue, he said.
As the sergeant turned onto Grand Avenue, he saw the driver walking the cycle across the road. He called in, got out and joined a Palisades Park officer who had just arrived.
Handcuffed and taken into custody, Rafael Concepcion told police he tried to duck police and get to a relative’s house at the apartment complex “because the motorcycle was not registered or insured,” Ziegler said.
Concepcion, who has a criminal record and several aliases, was booked and taken to the Bergen County Jail on $5,000 cash bail, the chief said.
