FORT LEE, N.J. -- A Port Authority police officer prevented a motorcyclist who beat the E-ZPass tolls at the George Washington Bridge from doing it a second time.
Officer Kathy Palvis spotted Amit Levitin, 51, of Manhattan atop the black 2012 Suzuki approaching the upper tolls around 8:35 a.m. Friday, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
Palvis stopped him and found the bike's license plate bent upward "in a manner normally used to evade the toll," he said. "The plate could not be read by the camera."
Levtin had used the same method to duck the toll on Feb. 2.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of theft of services.
