UPDATE: An earlier report of an interrupted burglary in Leonia was incorrect, Police Chief Thomas Rowe said tonight.
“Earlier today, our department received a call about a possible burglary in process in the Golf Course section of town,” Rowe told residents on a Leonia message board.
“When my officers arrived on the scene, they observed several males take off running. My officers chased after the males and apprehended two of them,” he wrote. “Both males were juveniles.
“After interviewing all of the juveniles involved in today’s incident, we determined that the juveniles were playing a prank and were not committing a burglary.”
