This year the Lyndhurst Police Department is help getting the word out.
"We would like to collect at least enough toys to fill an ambulance!" said Capt. Tarcisio Nunes of the Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad.
So far they have already collected three boxes full of toys.
This year's event is coordinated by Dominick Rotondo. He is a Lyndhurst resident and marine who has returned from recent deployments. He is a member of both the fire department and emergency squad.
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.
