Anthony Bozzetti, 33, a department veteran of 11 years, was "sitting up in his hospital bed," Capt. Patrick Kissane told Daily Voice just after 10:30 p.m

"Originally we thought that the injuries were worse than they were," he said. "He got hit pretty hard. But there don't appear to be any serious bodily injuries.

"He's going to be OK."

Bozzetti was uniformed with a reflective traffic vest and flashlight when he was struck just after 8:30 p.m. outside the borough public library and senior center on Main Street, Kissane said. The male driver continued on briefly but then stopped and was cooperative, he said.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Police Services was investigating.
