ONLY ON CVP: A grand jury this week brought first-degree charges against a Staten Island man who Leonia police said they grabbed running from an Englewood 7-Eleven holdup with two fists full of cash.

David Debowski, 24, is charged with threatening the convenience store clerk by pretending he had a gun while robbing $780.

His girlfriend, 23-year-old Marjorie Alva of Elmwood Park, was arrested after police found her waiting in a car outside the store during the Jan. 15 holdup.

Grand jurors indicted her for the same offense as Debowski — only as a third-degree crime. She was also charged with illegally possessing a knife and Xanax.

The frightened clerk was pointing at Debowski as Leonia Police Officer Frank Rocco pulled into the parking lot of the Grand Avenue convenience store around 2 a.m., Englewood Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time.

Rocco stopped Debowski and called for backup officers, who found Alva outside.

Debowski remains free on $100,000 bail, posted eight days after his arrest. Alva posted $40,000 bail six days after the arrests and was released.
