PALISADES PARK, N.J. -- A Palisades Park borough employee Friday morning helped police find a suspect in the hit-and-run injury of a pedestrian the day before, authorities said.

******UPDATE: A Fort Lee man was charged in connection with the hit-and-run injury of a Palisades Park pedestrian after a borough employee noticed damage to his car, authorities said.

Informed by borough administrators that the vehicle involved lost a headlight, Code Enforcement Officer Kenneth Bruno spotted a pickup truck with front-end damage -- and missing a headlight -- early Friday, Police Chief Mark Jackson said.

Bruno pulled over, took photos and notified police, he said.

They got a warrant and impounded the vehicle, which was being examined by investigators with the Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification.

The pedestrian, a 41-year-old borough man, was walking east on East Edsall Boulevard near First Street when he was struck around 3 a.m. Thursday, the chief said.

He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with a cut on the back of his head and a neck injury after police found him.
