LEONIA, N.J. -- Dr. Samuel Shapiro, a physician who served the community for decades, died Sunday. He was 93.

Shapiro, a longtime Leonia resident, was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Shapiro. 

He is survived by his children, Susan, Jonathan and Raphael, their respective spouses, six grand children and four great-grandchildren.

There was a funeral service Monday at Eden Memorial Chapels, 327 Main St., Fort Lee. Burial was at the Rosedale Crematory, 408 Orange Road, Montclair.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in his honor to the Religious School at Adas Emuno, 254 Broad Ave., Leonia, NJ 07605.
