Douglas A. Colitz, 51, Of Fort Lee

FORT LEE, N.J. — Fort Lee resident Douglas A. Colitz died Sunday, May 1. He was 51.

A native of Hackensack, Colits was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a graduate of Tenafly High School and Regis University in Denver. 

He worked as a street vendor in New York and previously worked in the garment district in New York for many years.

Colits also taught a class at the Fashion Institute of Technology and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Edgewater. 

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Annette Apricena-Colitz; children, Jaime and Gianna Colitz; sisters, Julianne Gianotti and Victoria and her husband Raymond Samori; brother-in-law Michael and his wife Cyndy Apricena; nieces Stephanie, Alexandra and Grace; and nephews Michael and Peter. 

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, 495 Anderson Ave., in Cliffside Park. A funeral Mass will then take place at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary R.C. Church in Edgewater. Cremation will be private. 

The family will receive their friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
