Barbara A. Morton, 85, of Hopewell Junction

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- Barbara A. Morton, 85, of Hopewell Junction died on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Born in Fitchburg, Mass. On April 8, 1930, she was the daughter of Vincent Gillis and Mary Domay Barber Gillis Boivin.

She had been employed by the Southern Dutchess News, Arrow Shirt Company and Fitchburg Lock Company. She was a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for the preschool. She was also a member of the South Hills Mall Walkers and the World War II Women’s Auxiliary. For many years, she also volunteered as a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

She married Preston L. Morton in 1951 in Fitchburg, Mass. He predeceased her in September 2015.

Morton is survived by: her children, Thomas Morton of Rahway, N.J.; James Morton of Hopewell Junction; Nancy Morton of Oregon; and Robert Morton of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Jessica, Allison, Mercedes and Tayna; 8 great grandchildren; and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. in Hopewell Junction, followed by a service at 5 p.m.
