At 11:11 p.m., officers responded to Route 78 West at Exit 55 in Newark, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Jason Ellis exited a Nissan Rogue while it was heading westbound on Route 78, Lebron said.
As a result of the impact, Ellis sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said. The investigation is ongoing, Lebron said.
