FORT LEE, N.J. -- Fort Lee's post office may get a new home, but the U.S. Postal Service isn't as clear as Mayor Mark Sokolich about the progress, The Record reports.
The borough has proposed building the post office a new facility, as part of a three-story building with retail and office space, adjoining a four-floor parking garage, according to The Record.
"They've agreed conceptually to allowing us to build them a brand-new, state-of-the-art post office, in exchange for which, once they move in, we would demolish the existing post office and construct a passive park," Sokolich said, according to The Record.
While he said he'd gotten an email from the USPS saying that it's working on a memorandum of understanding, a USPS spokeswoman wouldn't confirm that.
