FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A 25-year-old Fair Lawn heroin user needed to be revived by police after he overdosed on the drug during a substance abuse therapy session.

The victim told police he'd injected a bag of heroin at home before heading to his appointment Wednesday morning at The Counseling Center at Broadway and Summit Avenue, Sgt. Brian Metzler told Daily Voice.

He was found on a couch in a doctor's office just before 10:30 a.m. by responding Officers Luis Vasquez, Thomas Spear, Nicholas Snyder, Pete Federico and Tim Ammann, Metzler said.

A single dose of Narcan brought him around, the sergeant said.

The Fair Lawn Ambulance Corps responded, but he refused further medical treatment, Metzler said.

It was the 96th Narcan save by police this year in Bergen County, Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
