FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Irma Trude Magdalena, of Fair Lawn, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015.
She was born and raised in Eglischken, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1968, residing in Edgewater and eventually settling in Fair Lawn for the past 40 years.
A faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, she was a Sunday school teacher with the church for many years. An avid historian, she enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling but most importantly she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was employed as an editorial assistant with the Association for Computing Machinery in New York City for many years and formerly she was employed as head of operations for Daimler–Benz in Germany and also in New Jersey throughout the 1960s.
She was the wife of the late Vytautas Strolia; mother of Grazina and Darius Strolia; sister of Arno Trakis and the late Ruth Trakis; daughter of the late Michael and Anna Trakis; stepdaughter of the late Eva Sudmann; half-sister of the late Johann Ernst; and cousin of Gilma.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
