FAIR LAWN, N.J. – Bruce Axford Becker, a resident of Fair Lawn, died Friday, March 4. He was 69.
Born in Jersey City and raised in North Bergen, he resided in Fair Lawn for 33 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Hope College in Holland, Mich. He served with the National Guard from 1970-76. He was a former member of the Woodcliff Community Church in North Bergen, where he engaged in various church activities. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years and a supporter of the Project Liberty Ship Program.
He was employed in the IT department at Smith Barney, which eventually grew to become Citigroup in Manhattan, earning the title of assistant vice president for 29 years before his retirement in 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Becker; a brother, Neil Becker and his wife, Van.
He is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Carol McCormack.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday. March 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Tranquility Cemetery in Green Township.
