GLEN ROCK, N.J. - Organizations throughout Glen Rock gathered at the high school on Oct. 7 for the borough's first Community Showcase.
Representatives from nearly three dozen groups set up tables in the high school with information about themselves for residents.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for people to realize how many resources there are in the town," Glen Rock Library Director Betsy Wald said, "and what organizations can do for them."
Many tables included treats for passersby. The event also featured a trivia game with questions about Glen Rock history.
The community showcase served as a meet and greet with organizations including the schools, fire and police departments, religious organizations and more.
Sarah Sexton of the Glen Rock Fire Department said the event helps spread awareness.
"We're a volunteer organization so it helps people understand we're here to give back to the community," Sexton told Daily Voice. It also allowed the fire department to look for more members, she continued.
Lynn Mayer, a member of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps, said the showcase was an eye opener for her.
"I didn't even know half of these organizations were here, so it's kind of enlightening," Mayer said. "Here they're all in one room so it's pretty great."
