FAIR LAWN, N.J. — The Fair Lawn Farmers Market wrapped up another season with its final produce sale of 2015 Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The selection at the market Wednesday reflected the season with pumpkins and apples on the stands, along with tomatoes, zucchini and other vegetables. At the end of the day the produce and supplies cleared out of the parking lot behind New Song Church until July.
"We had a great season, very busy," said Alyssa Adamsky, who helps run the market.
A small group from Silver Lake Farms in Blairstown packed a truck full of food and traveled to Fair Lawn every Wednesday for the Farmers Market.
Running from July to mid-October, customers are the most active in August and September. At times people fill the entire parking lot for the High Street church, but the crowd generally quiets by October, Adamsky said.
Regardless of the time of year, tomatoes are always the biggest seller, she continued.
The 2015 season marked the eighth for the Farmers Market in Fair Lawn. Danielle Ahlstrom has helped run the stands for the past five years. She said she enjoys meeting the people who visit and is glad they keep coming back.
"It's convenient for [the customers]," Ahlstrom told Daily Voice. "I think a lot of them live right in the area and they walk."
