GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Bruce Packer's political career all got started with a patch of grass.
As a sports coach, Packer began attending Borough meetings when a measure was on the table to put a turf field in Glen Rock. Attending the meetings allowed the 51-year-old Democrat to take interest in a wider array of community issues.
Packer defeated incumbent John van Keuren and took office last year. Now the resident of over 20 years is focused on overseeing the Glen Rock Arboretum project as well as helping to revitalize the downtown area.
