Crews were called to the 1600 block of 48th Street at 11:29 p.m. on Friday, July 4, for reports of a residential structure fire, Fire Chief Jonathan B. Hutton said in a release.
“Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions on the second floor with two occupants unaccounted for,” the chief said.
Firefighters searched the home and found the victims on the second floor. They were removed from the building but pronounced deceased on location, Hutton said.
The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pennsauken Fire Marshal’s Office, Pennsauken Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, and New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office, officials said.
