The Friday, January 1 run at Memorial Middle School will benefit Rotary Charities & The Rotary Gift of Life. The organization helps children in undeveloped nations receive treatment for heart disease.

“I’m proud to be part of the Sunrise Rotary," Fair Lawn Mayor John Cosgrove told the Daily Voice.

"This first day 5k run is a great way to start out the new year. It is our largest fundraiser and it helps us to sponsor programs that help Fair Lawn and also help internationally."

Trophies and medals will be provided to all top male and female performers. In addition, the first 350 registrants receive a free t-shirt.

This year there is also a 3K walk for families, as well as a raffle at the end of the race.
