Assault Case Uncovers Machetes, 17 Lbs Of Pot, Nearly 900+ Xanax Pills In Fair Lawn: Cops

A two-week investigation into an assault led Fair Lawn detectives to a major drug bust that turned up 17 pounds of marijuana, more than 900 Xanax pills, and two machetes, police said.

The search happened on Friday, April 11, around 7:30 p.m., when Detective Anthony Lugo and the Fair Lawn Police Detective Bureau executed a search warrant at a residence on Pellington Drive, according to Sgt. Eric Eleshewich.

Inside the home, police found two machetes and what they described as “numerous indicators of drug distribution and manufacturing.” A second search warrant followed, and that’s when police say they recovered:

  • 17 pounds of marijuana
  • 2.5 pounds of liquid THC
  • 1.65 oz. of psychedelic mushrooms
  • 923 Xanax pills
  • 4 Adderall pills

The suspect, Antonio L. Rodriguez, 22, of Pellington Drive, was arrested and charged with:

  • Simple assault
  • Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose
  • Terroristic threats
  • Distribution of marijuana over 5 pounds
  • Distribution of narcotics within 500 feet of a public park
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute

Rodriguez was taken to the Bergen County Jail after being charged.

The investigation involved multiple officers, including Det. Lugo, Det. Mercedes, D/Lt. T. O’Shaughnessy, D/Sgt. Wyka, Det. C. O’Shaughnessy, Det. Rypkema, Det. Digiugliemo, P.O. Hearon, P.O. Ferriera, and P.O. Messina.
