The Essex County Sheriff's Office and police from Newark, Irvington and Bloomfield assisted in the arrest of a Newark man who was dealing drugs from his Grafton Avenue apartment, Sheriff Armando Fontoura said in a statement.
Following complaints from neighborhood residents, the sheriff's Bureau of Narcotics obtained a search warrant for the first-floor apartment of Christopher Griffen, 33.
When police executed the warrant Wednesday, they found Griffen as well as 113 vials of crack cocaine and 14 envelopes of heroin stamped with the words "TRAIN WRECK" in red ink, Fontoura said.
Griffen was charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with intent to distribute and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of Ridge Street Elementary School.
He was being held at the Essex County jail.
