Authorities have identified the man who died in a hit-and-run crash on a Newark highway.
Devere Rogers was struck near McCarter Highway and 4th Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
The driver did not stop to render aid or call for help, they said.
Rogers, 42, was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 12:10 a.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
