Citing ongoing financial difficulties, the Archdiocese of Newark announced last month that the 90-year-old school would be shut down for good.

The school, located at 237 S. Broad Street, boasts a 100 percent college acceptance rate for its graduating seniors, with millions in scholarships awarded to a group that comes largely from urban areas.

Following a morning of activity for alumni, the community fundraising fair will begin at 1 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. in the school yard on South Street.

Also that day, from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m., there will be an alumni basketball game, followed by a game between members of the Elizabeth Police Department and Elizabeth Fire Department.

There will be another basketball game after this, between current students and recent alumni, followed by alumni entertainment from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Those interested in assisting the school can also learn more about how to help by checking out the fundraiser’s GoFundMe page, which can be reached by clicking here.
