East Orange Man Among 6 Busted By FBI, PD In Undercover Prostitution Sting

An East Orange man was being held in the Morris County Jail for having burglary tools on him during an undercover prostitution bust in Hanover, authorities said.

Gerrod Martin, 27, was among six arrested Thursday, Hanover police said. He was charged with promoting prostitution and possession of burglary tools for having a card skimmer, police said.

The operation targeted possible human and sex trafficking, and the exploitation of juveniles, Hanover police said in a news release.

The four women charged with prostitution were:

  • Deja Berkelmann, 31 of Paterson
  • Erica Parenti, 35 year of Easton P.A.
  • Katherine Torres, 25 of Paterson 
  • Carolina Mittman, 34 of Townsend D.E. 
Berkelmann and Torres also face drug charges. Rahj Majid, 22 of Ozone Park, N.Y., was arrested for promoting prostitution. 

The five were released pending a court date while Martin remained in the county jail.

Police did not say which hotel the operation took place.
