Richard O'Day, a 54-year-old father of three from Rumson, took his Grady White Freedom out from a private dock on Polly's Pond on May 1, according to Rumson police.

It was the first time he'd had the 27-footer on the water since putting it into winter storage, family members said.

The boat was found three days later in Sandy Hook Bay, anchored 1,000 feet from shore in Horseshoe Cove, said New Jersey State Police, whose Marine Unit conducted an intensive search along with the U.S. Coast Guard.

His wallet and phone were inside, they said.

Volunteers and a Pennsylvania-based search-and-rescue group joined the effort to find O'Day, a senior managing director at CohnReznick, a Manhattan-based global investment firm.

O'Day's body was found in the bay on Monday, May 23, his daughter, Taylor, announced on Instagram.

"At this time my family and I are asking for privacy," she wrote.
