Need A Checkup? There's A Free Medical Clinic In Newark Saturday

An organization affiliated with the New Jersey Institute of Technology is offering free medical screenings and other services Saturday in Newark.

The services will be offered free to all attendees of the event, which is being held at Barringer High School, 90 Parker St., from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The screenings are being offered by the New Jersey Innovation Institute, a corporation of the New Jersey Institute of Technology. 

The Pop Up Health Clinic will provide basic tests, such as height, weight, blood pressure and glucose level, as well as information and referrals to different services including housing assistance, employment services, insurance collateral and dental health educational materials.

“As a Newark-based company with deep healthcare understanding and expertise, we want to actively engage with the community” said Tomas Gregorio, senior vice president of the New Jersey Innovation Institute’s Healthcare Division. “It’s important to use our healthcare connections and knowledge for data-informed transformation—the things that help move the needle and make an impact in Newark. We hope to see these Pop Up Health Clinics grow and expand into a successful statewide initiative and evolve so attendees are connected directly with clinical care providers within their community.”

The event, screenings, and referrals are free for all attendees, even if they do not reside in Newark.
