ALPINE, N.J. -- A rock slide has closed Alpine Hill, a popular cycling route along the Palisades, through this week, authorities said.
"Special equipment [is] needed to safely remove the rock slide," Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Chief Michael Coppola said.
The 1.4-mile road rises roughly 440 feet above sea level, one of North Jersey's longest climbs. It draws cyclists from both sides of the Hudson.
Access to the boat basin this week will be from Englewood Cliffs only.
