The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police received a call around 12:38 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, from a father who said his daughter’s phone had been stationary for hours near Rockefeller Lookout, according to Lt. Suicidal Ridgewood Man Pulled From Edge Of Cliff In Dramatic Rescue, Cops Say
A 28-year-old man from Ridgewood was rescued from the edge of the cliff at Rockefeller Lookout Monday evening, March 31, after threatening to jump, authorities said. At 4:46 p.m., the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police were alerted by a family member that the man was suicidal and threatening to jump, PIPPD Chief Steven R. Shallop said. A person died after jumping from Rockefeller Lookout along the Palisades Interstate Parkway overnight, Daily Voice has learned. Emergency responders confirmed the individual jumped sometime before midnight Saturday, March 15 and was later confirmed deceased. A rappel team comprised of multiple Bergen County fire departments responded. Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity. The body of a 19-year-old Edgewater man was recovered from the base of the cliff near Rockefeller Lookout on the Palisades Interstate Parkway after police said he was reported missing by his family on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
