Mystery behind man who jumped from George Washington Bridge

ONLY ON CVP: A man stopped his car just before 6 a.m. this morning on the George Washington Bridge just past the west tower, got out, climbed over the railing to the walkway and then over the outer railing, witnesses told Port Authority police — who, as of 9:40 a.m., hadn’t recovered a body yet. On top of that, he was driving someone else’s car.

The 1993 Plymouth Sundance with New Jersey plates was found in the far right lane, Port Authority spokesman Al Della Fave told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The driver — described as white with gray hair and a gray shirt — wasted little time getting out and over the railings, witnesses said.

Inside the car, police found a registration belonging to another person, as well as a pay stub. They’re not sure whether it belongs to him.

The NYPD Harbor Patrol has been searching the river since.
