ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Jacqueline D. Prosper, of Englewood, died Nov. 7. She was 80.
She was born in Petit-Goave, Haiti and emigrated to the United States in 1967.
She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Cecilia's RC Church in Englewood. She was also a registered nurse, working in Quebec, Canada and in Queens, N.Y., until deciding to devote her time to raising her five children as a full-time mother.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Alix Prosper; children, Patrick Prosper, Dominique Prosper, Sandra Prosper, Francoise (Raheem McMillon) Prosper, and Jacqueline Colette (Sean Sonderegger) Prosper; siblings, Jean Depestre, Franzie Abel, Michelle Miguel (deceased), Maude Pamphile (deceased), Marie Cirilli and Florence David-Gebhardt; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave. in Garfield. A Mass will be conducted at 1 p.m. at St. Cecilia's RC Church, 55 W. Demarest Ave., Englewood followed by a private cremation at the funeral home.
