NJ Hiker Trapped In Railroad Viaduct Rescued, Charged With Trespassing: FD

A hiker was rescued and then charged with trespassing after getting stuck in a railroad viaduct in Warren County on the evening of Tuesday, March 11, authorities said.

At 10:23 p.m. rescuers responded to Station Road on a report of a hiker trapped in a railroad viaduct, Knowlton Twp. Fire and Rescue Company #1 - Station 41 said.

Two five-person rescue teams were sent onto the railroad bed and a team of New Jersey State Police troopers searched the immediate area under the viaduct, firefighters said.

The hiker was located after an hour, uninjured inside a viaduct support column, firefighters said.

State troopers apprehended the hiker for trespassing and transported him to a local hospital for observation, firefighters said.

The Paulinskill and Delaware River viaducts are state property and are posted against trespassing, firefighters said.
