She has been a member of the tech and production crew for summer musicals at The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC since 2013, and is currently a costume designer and assistant stage manager of the “Les Miserables School Edition" production taking place in August.

Such involvement in the arts, theater, dance and music at the school has proven to have a positive impact academically and socially for children of all ages. The connection between Lupkin’s participation at The Performing Arts School and her success in high school demonstrates the benefits of incorporating creative pursuits with academic performance.

“My true passion is costume design, and it is currently the career I wish to pursue," Lupkin said. "I love costume design because it combines two of my greatest interests -- history and theatee. It enables me to visually create a complete character through creative thinking and research.”

Having first come to work with The Performing Arts School in the summer of 2013 on the production “Aida," Lupkin’s entire future was transformed. In her college application to Barnard College, to which she will be attending this fall, she shared, “After working on ‘Aida’ and making the robe, I was certain that I wanted to pursue costume design.”

“The Performing Arts School of bergenPAC has been extremely successful in instilling a love of the arts among local students," said Dominic Roncace, bergenPAC CEO. "The variety of programs offered here has proven time and again that the students and participants have benefitted immensely from their experiences.”

Lupkin also has worked on productions of “42nd Street,” “Rent!” “School Edition,” “Cats,” “In The Heights" and “Grease."

The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC performs “Les Miserables, School Edition" at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 on the bergenPAC main stage at 30 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood. Click here to purchase tickets or call the box office at 201-227-1030.
